E39 540i project catch up
My 1997 e39 540i at the moment is waiting for proper time and little bit of maintenance to get back on the road again. This is short catch up of all work done to it so far and what might be waiting a long the road for it.
So things needed to be done for the e39 are as follows:
- Needs a new battery
- All suspension arms need replacing + all new bearings and brakes
- Re-finishing OEM wheels and good summer tires
- Interior clean
- Coolant system upgrade
- Audio system build
- Air suspension
- Some regular maintenance like valve cover gaskets and spark plugs
- Finishing headliner installation
- Proper exhaust
There are some of the most important tasks to finalize before getting it road worthy again. Some of them are not really needed for M.O.T but could be done at the same time.
What has been done to the car? "Latest" project for the car was to give it complete re-spray and color change from black to Twilight purple. This step also included a lot of surface prep and maintenance of different parts of the car. Most of the rust was treated and many of the seals were replaced. Exterior of the car is starting to be good but it still needs love on the inside, in the engine bay and underneath. Will keep you updated when getting more work done to it and finding parts to it.
